Title: Optical spectral structure and frequency coherence
摘要:对精细光谱结构的分析可揭示半导体激光器的重要性能,如模式特征、原子发射行为、高频性能和相关性。报告人根据实验中的结果,建立了描述半导体激光器光谱结构的模型。在此基础上提出了一个新概念——频率相干性。该模型可以对许多观测到的现象和实验结果给予合理的解释,如光载波与强度调制所产生边带拍频产生线宽极窄的微波信号、外部光注入对噪声的抑制作用。此光谱结构模型和频率相干性的概念可以得到进一步发展,并在光电子器件中得到广泛的应用。
Abstract: The spectral analysis, especially for the fine spectral structure, reveals the important properties of semiconductor lasers, such as mode characteristics, atom emission behavior, high-frequency performances, and coherence features. A model for describing spectral structure of semiconductor lasers is presentedin this talk, and a new concept about frequency coherenceis proposedbased on this model.This model can give reasonable explanations to many observed phenomena and experimental results, such as extremely narrow linewidth of the beat signal between an optical carrier and the sidebands produced by intensity modulation, noise suppression after external light injection. This spectral structure model and frequency coherence concept can be developed further and have wide applications in the photonicdevices.
