To promote and advance a newly-emerging attosecond science by applying the current attosecond spectroscopy to the study of utlrafast dynamics, and pushing frontiers of new relevant technologies, and networking researchers, Max Planck Center for Attosecond Science has been established in 2010, where Center for Attosecond Science and Tech.(CASTECH) at POSTECH plays a role of research & development hub in Asia Pacific Rim. During the past few years s, the major effort has been to construct attosecond light facilities for the studies in atomic, molecular and nanoscopic systems. The first attosecond light facility has been successfully completed last year. An isolated attosecond pulse of 200 as was successfully achieved: the first streaking experiment of an isolated attosecond pulse was obtained. The generation of a few femtosecond vuv pulse, using a highly-pressurized cell, has also successfully done. The real time observation of electron’s motion ( quantum beating ) in Xe and Kr atom has been made.
In connection with Korean XFEL project, efforts have been made to devise a mechanism and technique to produce an isolated attosecond pulse at 0.1 nm ( 12keV)
In this talk, all of these activities will be discussed and the current status of CASTECH and MPC-AS will be presented.
